Ching Chu graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2016, and began her contemporary dance training at the age of 24. She is now graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts majored in Contemporary Dance. During her study in the academy, she has been a continuous recipient of HKAPA Scholarships, awarded HSBC Hong Kong Scholarships, and Stephen Kwok Memorial Fund for summer intensive training in TANZWERKSTATT EUROPA 2023 in Munich, Germany. 

 

Roaming from visual to performing arts, she aims for interdisciplinary performative collaborations and research. She is currently taking a deconstructive approach to reflect on her performative training and developing artistic practice in relation to score-based choreography, performance generating system, female body and subjectivity. 

 

Recent creative engagements: Ollín, a cross-disciplinary sonic group performance collaborated with the Sound Artist Vica Pacheco, presented in Freespace Noise Fest 2024, as workshop co-leader, Choreographer and Performer; Performative Practice Research Presentation as self-initiated graduation project presented at the end of academic year 23/24; Cooperative Fantasies, Unlock Body Lab: dance-to-be 2023, presented by Unlock Dancing Plaza; All the Tired Horses, presented in ‘Palette’, dance work showcase of Choreographic Workshop I, School of Dance, HKAPA.

 

Performative engagements include: Mountain and Water, performance artwork by Tong Wenmin in HICCUP — a festival of body and sound co-presented by Tai Kwun Contemporary, Contemporary Musiking Hong Kong (Sound Forms), and Per.Platform (as Performer); Our Mountains & Seas 2049 VR Theatre, co-presented by Star & Dust Collective and Leisure and Cultural Services Department ‘New Energy’ Series (as Creative Performer), 2023; Colossus, co-production of Hong Kong Art Festival and the HKAPA School of Dance (as Dancer), 2022; Rosy View of Words, live performance associated with video installation It All Begins With A Word in the New Vision Arts Festival 2021 (as Performer).

2016年於香港中文大學藝術系畢業,24歲開展現代舞訓練並在2024年畢業於香港演藝學院現代舞系。朱氏在學修讀現代舞期間獲多項獎學金,包括匯豐香港獎學金、香港演藝學院獎學金及郭世毅紀念基金資助前往德國慕尼黑參與舞蹈節TANZWERKSTATT EUROPA 2023交流活動。

從視覺藝術遊走到表演場域,朱氏樂於參與跨範疇實驗性表演、創作和研究,並以解構的思維反思自身的表演訓練,建立有關表演生成系統的編創方式及女性身體和主體性的藝術實踐。

 

近期編創項目有:舞動節2024參與式作品《睡前故事》;自由空間耳震盪2024與聲音藝術家Vica Pacheco合作創作跨媒介群體演出《Ollín》,作工作坊共同帶領人、編舞及表演者;自發畢業習作有關解構表演的研習,於23/24學年年底在校展示;不加鎖舞踊館創作研究計劃Unlock Body Lab: dance-to-be 2023 《想像實現協作社》;《All the Tired Horses》發表於香港演藝學院舞蹈學院編舞工作坊2023「塑色譜」作品展演。

 

參與演出項目包括:由大館當代美術館、現在音樂(第七屆聲形聲音藝術節 )及首次合作的Per.Platform 合辦關於身體及聲音的展演節目《HICCUP》中由行為藝術家童文敏創作的行為作品《山水》中作表演者之一;康樂及文化事務處署新能量系列2023虛擬實驗劇場《山海二零四玖》作演員之一;香港藝術節2022與香港演藝學院舞蹈學院聯合製作《無極》舞者之一;新視野藝術節2021多媒體裝置展覽《See字進入》現場演出作品之一《倒影中字》的演繹舞者。
