Care to Touch

2 bodies, a bottle of lotion/cream

2024
Performed with Waiyin Cheung

The performative response was inspired from Adam Norhaizad’s duet work-in-progress with his wife dwelling in incorporating politeness and flirtatiousness into Malay dance.

The initial concept of the performative response is to convey the notion “caring is sexy”. The task of applying lotion/cream onto other’s body is an action expressing/practicing care. Combining the revealing of skin and visceral touches, sensuality and sexiness are naturally associated. The process of applying lotion started with applying onto limbs and gradually onto each other's torsos, in which 2 bodies would eventually become entangled and it further enhances the sense of sexiness and intimacy.

The performative response was around 20mins and accompanied by a soundtrack made by Gold Mountain, of different animals’ sounds of having intercourse in nature.
